Drone - 2022-2023

My friend Yakup Bağrıaçık, and I connected with a company that wanted to build their own drones. They asked us to create and sell the drones, and we were excited to take on the project. We started by researching other drones and watching videos on how to build and fly them. Although we didn’t have experience with drones, we knew about gyros and had knowledge of the PID algorithm. With the right documentation, we began building the drones.

In the early days, we faced a lot of challenges. For example, the drone’s propellers were in the wrong positions, causing it to flip, and the PID settings were off, making the flight unstable. But we worked through each issue, fixing them one by one. Eventually, we got the drone to fly with a decent level of stability. It wasn’t perfect, but it was much better than when we started.

Improving

After getting the drone stable, the company asked us to make further improvements, like adding a barometer for altitude control and enabling automatic take-off. The barometer was supposed to keep the drone at a steady altitude, but it was slow, so we optimized it through programming. We spent 8 months refining the drone, and finally, it was ready to be sold to the company. Here are the specifications of our drone:

  • Flight Stability: Achieved through PID control and optimized barometer implementation.
  • Altitude Control: Uses a barometer sensor to maintain the desired altitude accurately.
  • Durability: Built with a strong frame to withstand impacts.
